Released in June 2015 to coincide with Savatage’s historic reunion performance at the Wacken Open Air festival (their first show together in over a decade, co-headlining simultaneously with Trans-Siberian Orchestra).
Return to Wacken serves as a career-spanning studio compilation capturing the essential tracks that defined the heavy/progressive metal band's legacy. It showcases the evolution of their sound—from the heavy metal power of their early years led by the late Criss Oliva to the grand, orchestral progressive metal written alongside producer Paul O'Neill. The release comes with artwork commemorating their return to the stage and liner notes by Jon Oliva.
