Dead Winter Dead is the ninth studio album by Savatage, originally released on October 24, 1995. It is a rock opera concept album set during the Bosnian War (1992–1995) in Sarajevo, following a young Muslim boy and a Serb girl who fall in love amidst the conflict.
The album notably birthed the instrumental hit "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)", which launched the massive success of producer Paul O'Neill and Jon Oliva's side venture, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
